Built
in the 20th century as a nine bedroom Hotel the Summit Complex has had
several owners, a devastating fire and many changes since its historic
opening.
The
R.A.F. purchased the hotel in 1941, and it became a temporary radar-station.
In 1952 a champion middleweight boxer named Randolph Turpin became the
licensee until 1961. The Llandudno Urban Council bought him out when he
got into financial difficulties with the Inland Revenue. He ended his
life with a single bullet in 1966.
Travel
to the Summit by Tram or Cable Car both journeys offer some
spectacular views.
Drive to the
Summit by Car, there is ample car parking and facilities for
the Disabled.
A Bus service
is available and will take you near to the Halfway Tram Station.
The
Summit Complex now houses a Bar and Restaurant which is themed on the
famous Randolph Turpin who once owned the Complex. A themed Gift and Curio
Shop stocked with gifts and Souvenirs as a reminder of your visit.
